ISO 50001, which influences energy efficiency, was introduced to the Polish system of norms in 2012. That standard regulates energy management. The aim of it is to guide industrial facilities toward integrated energy efficiency in their own management practices. The norm can be applied to all types of organizations, no matter the business branch. A company has to meet obligations specified in its energy policy, which is in line with legal regulations and other requirements. The norm also enforces the idea of constant improvement of energy management by means of PDCS procedure. 3728 certificates were granted in Europe in 2013, including 22 in Poland. Meanwhile in Germany 2477 certificates of ISO 50001 were granted in 2013. The number of certificates granted both in Poland and in Europe has been growing constantly.
